All K. S Associates writers have extensive knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEND) and many have worked in SEN Management for Local Authorities for many years, writing Statements of Special Educational Needs and more recently Education, Health and Care Plans.
Karen Soul, founder of K.S Associates was personally involved in the SEND14 trial looking at the new legislation relating to the Children and Families Act 2014 and the new Special educational needs and disability Code of Practice 0-25 years. She then worked as an SEN Officer Coordinating the EHC Needs Assessment, liaising with parents and schools, and chairing Team Around the Family meetings. After this Karen was appointed as an Implementation Officer, including helping to introduce new ways of working, giving advice to SENCOs in school and delivering training and mentoring in writing the Education, Health and Care Plan. For the past 3 years Karen has worked on building EHCP Writing Services and writing many Education, Health and Care Plans for both Local Authorities and Parents.
All K.S Associates writers are committed to writing high quality EHC Plans and particularly specialise in writing these documents for children and young people with significant and complex needs. Education, Health & Care Plans
The new SEN Code of Practice issued in January 2015, makes clear the need for the assessment process and EHC Plan to be person-centred, taking more account of the views and wishes of the child/young person and their family. The child/young person's needs should be clearly identified, and their achievements should also be included. Outcomes should be person-centred and linked to the child or young person's needs and provision, where possible, should be specified and quantified.
'EHC Plans should be forward looking documents that help raise aspirations and outline the provision required to meet assessed needs to support the child or young person in achieving their ambitions. EHC Plans should specify how services will be delivered as part of a whole package and explain how best to achieve the outcomes sought across education, health and social care for the child or young person.'
Section 9.5 of the Code of Practice January 2015.
" Karen triages the important and substantial information from the various reports she is given and creates a summary that is easy to read, understand and follow as well as giving it "flow". This latest strand in her work is very difficult to achieve in most cases, given the raw material she normally has to work from. In addition to writing in a specialist manner, she can also produce written work that is accessible ( plain English) to customers and the general public without making it sound patronising. Karen is meticulous, conscientious and reliable.
County Council Tribunal Officer and SEN Manager
The service and support we have received from Karen (K.S Associates) has been second to none. From my very first contact with Karen, I always felt she has a determination to get things right. Her interest in having the child’s rights met, has always stood out in all the communications we had.
Karen was able to work to our tight deadline and also still included 4 late professional reports.
